The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) is a state-level examination conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) to determine the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in Uttar Pradesh’s government schools. the test is mandatory for individuals aspiring to become teachers for Classes I to VIII in the state.
Exam Structure
UPTET comprises two papers

- Language II (English/Urdu/Sanskrit): Evaluates proficiency in a second language.

Paper II (Upper Primary Level) Sections:
- Child Development and Pedagogy: Similar to Paper I but with a focus on upper primary education.
- Language I (Hindi): Assesses proficiency in Hindi language.
- Language II (English/Urdu/Sanskrit): Evaluates proficiency in a second language.
- Mathematics and Science or Social Studies: Candidates choose between Mathematics and Science or Social Studies based on their specialization.

Primary Level (Classes 1–5):
- Must have completed or be in the final year of a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.), B.El.Ed., or equivalent, along with graduation.
- Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and B.Ed. are also eligible.
Upper Primary Level (Classes 6–8):
- A Bachelor’s degree with a B.Ed. or D.El.Ed.
- Candidates with a Master’s degree and B.Ed. are also eligible.

No, there is no negative marking in the UPTET exam.
