Introduction to Railway Group D Exam


  • Conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) for various posts under Group D.

  • Designed to recruit individuals for roles such as Track Maintainer, Helper/Assistant in technical departments, Pointsman, etc.

  • Opportunities are offered in Indian Railways, one of the world’s largest rail networks.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality


  • Minimum qualification: 10th pass or ITI from institutions recognized by NCVT/SCVT or equivalent.

Age Limit


  • Minimum: 18 years.

  • Maximum: 33 years (relaxations provided for reserved categories).

Educational Qualifications


  • Must be an Indian citizen or meet specific criteria for Nepal/Bhutan residents or Tibetan refugees.

Physical Standards


  • Candidates must meet specific physical fitness standards depending on the post.

Exam Pattern

Stages of Selection:

CBT-2


  • Computer-Based Test (CBT).

  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET).

  • Document Verification.

  • Medical Examination.

Computer-Based Test (CBT)

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)


  • Tests physical endurance and fitness.
Male Candidates
Lift and carry 35 kg for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes.
Run 1000 meters in 4 minutes and 15 seconds.
Female Candidates
Lift and carry 20 kg for 100 meters in 2 minutes.
Run 1000 meters in 5 minutes and 40 seconds.

Document Verification


  • Verification of educational certificates, identity proof, caste/category certificates, etc.

  • Candidates failing to produce valid documents are disqualified.

Medical Examination


  • Ensures the candidate meets the medical standards for the specific post.

  • Includes vision tests, physical health checks, etc.

General Science


  • Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences of 10th standard level.

Mathematics


  • Number System, Decimals, Fractions, Percentage, Ratio, Mensuration, Geometry, Algebra, etc.

General Intelligence and Reasoning:


  • Coding-Decoding, Puzzles, Syllogism, Blood Relations, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation, etc.

General Awareness and Current Affairs:


  • National and international news, Sports, Culture, Science, Technology, Railways-related developments.
